Eileen Allen, 95, of Thorntown, daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Buzan) Walker passed away July 17, 2022.
Eileen was born December 23, 1926 (Helen Eileen Walker) in Clinton County and spent most of her life in Thorntown, Indiana. She was a beautician for many years, retiring when she was 65. She then went to work at Stookey’s Restaurant in Thorntown, where she retired at the age of 90.
She was an active member of the Thorntown Presbyterian Church in Thorntown for many years. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and played in the bell choir, many times playing songs on the bells by herself. She attended the Sugar Plain Friends Church more recently where she was also active until her health prevented her from attending. In her younger days she enjoyed refinishing old furniture and doing other craft projects. Eileen was very creative.
Eileen married Doyle Leon Allen on August 16, 1950. Together they raised two sons, Max G. (Susan) Allen of Thorntown and Larry Dean Allen of Ft. Myers, Florida. She loved her grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Allen and Kyle (Tracey) Allen and her great grandchildren Donovan and Nora, all of Indianapolis.
She is survived by one sister, Virginia White of Antioch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; sister, Anne Mae King; her father, mother and her stepmothers, Miriam and Hattie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana with a celebration of life immediately following. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her care.
