Eileen (Schooler) Skaggs, 94, passed away Jan. 16, 2021 after a short hospital stay.

Eileen was born to Harold and Mary (Wynkoop) Schooler on Aug. 26, 1926 on the farm near Jamestown. She married Larry Skaggs in Jamestown on June 22, 1945.  Eileen and Larry lived many years in Clinton, IN where they operated their own business before retiring and moving to Lebanon to be closer to family. She recently moved to Carmel after living in Lebanon for over 20 years.

Eileen was always active in her local church wherever she resided and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon at her passing.  After the passing of Larry, Eileen was active in the Red Hat group and the Window’s Group in which she had many friends, good meals, and various fun activities.  Eileen had been a frequent volunteer at Witham Hospital for several years. She was known to prepare food for elderly friends and visit with those who were not as mobile as her. She had a heart to help those in need.  Eileen walked daily for many years and loved to ride her tricycle until her 94th birthday when she moved to Carmel Senior Living.

Eileen has one surviving child, Dianne Walthall and her husband, John, of Carmel; a daughter-in-law, Afonda (Skaggs) Chojnacki and her husband, Matt, of Twinsburg, OH; a sister, Louise Beck of Advance; five grandchildren: Allen Skaggs, Philip Skaggs and his wife, Carrie, Stephanie Buck and her husband, Tom, all of Twinsburg; Grant Walthall of San Diego and Ross Walthall and his wife, Susie, of Seven Hills, OH; six great grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews.  Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, who passed in 2000; her eldest child, Steven Skaggs who passed in 1996 and a brother, Don Schooler.

Family and friends will gather Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
