Elizabeth “Betty” Joan Runyan, 94, of Whitestown, died Wednesday, Apr. 6, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Betty was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Tipton, a daughter of the late Ernest Hogan and Edna Alice (Beam) Williams. She married Joseph Nathaniel Runyan on Sep. 17, 1950. He preceded her in death Jun. 1992.

Betty was a beautician, along with a homemaker, always caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening and farming, along with tending to the chickens, pigs, cows, and sheep. Trusting Jesus Christ as her Savior and serving in her church was her priority in life.

Survivors include her children, Deanna (Harry) Miller of Ariz., Doug (Jean) Runyan of Lebanon, Gregory (Linda) Runyan of East Troy, Wis., and Glenna (Tim) Gordon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Julie Byrd, Greg Runyan, Adrianne Willoughby, Stefanie Childs, Amy Odom, Debbie Prowitz, Lisa Grogan, Amanda Froes, and Jason Miller; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Sonya Williams and Sharon Williams.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Gordon; brothers, Joe, James, and Dewayne Williams; and sisters, Lois Presley, Becky Thomason, and Peg Ottinger.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Apr. 12, for a funeral service at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior in the Mausoleum at Lincoln Memory Gardens, 6851 Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Gideons International.
