Elizabeth G. Bryant left this life on Oct. 11, at 8:08 p.m. She was 97.

Elizabeth was born on May 17, 1925, to Beulah and Bert Ingrum in Illinois. Elizabeth was the eighth of nine children born and is the last of her brothers and sisters to leave this life.

She was raised and educated in and around the Hugo and Camargo, IL area. She was preceded in death by her son, Chester D. Henson.

She is survived by one son, Wayne L. Bryant (Precilla) and grandchildren, Ashley Bryant, Jeff Henson, and Elizabeth Thornton (Brian). In addition, she is survived by three great grandchildren, Nick Henson, Cheyenne Henson, and Isla Thornton and two step-grandchildren, Finn and Owlsley Thornton.

Elizabeth worked as a cashier at Kroger in Paris, IL prior to moving to Indiana. Upon moving to Indiana, Elizabeth returned to the farm life (Colfax, IN) she had known growing up in Illinois. She later worked at the Clarks Hill Grocery Store for several years. At the young age of 70, she began working at the Big Lots store in Lebanon, IN, and worked up until the retirement age of 89. Less than a year after her retirement, the Big Lots store closed.

Elizabeth enjoyed cooking (golden brown fried chicken), gardening, and mowing the lawn (last time at age 91). She was an accomplished seamstress and specialized in crocheting.

Her proudest accomplishment, second to working hard her entire life, was befriending stray cats and making sure none of them went hungry.

Final care of Elizabeth has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
