On August 31, 1968, he was united in marriage to Glenda Faye (Adkins) Hartley in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2004.
Eric was a 1967 graduate of Ben Davis High School. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local 1999 of Indianapolis. He had worked for E-Z Rake in Lebanon and Air -Com Manufacturing in Indianapolis as a tool and dye supervisor.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren. He had a passion for Corvettes and enjoyed all things racing. He was an avid New York Yankee fan. In addition, Eric enjoyed his time spent at the Senior Center in Mooresville playing Euchre and taking trips with the Plainfield Christian Church Senior’s Group.
Survivors include two children, Pamela Jean Hartley of Whitestown and Eric Christopher Hartley of Danville; two grandsons, Corban E. (Danielle) Hartley of Bargersville and Caleb A. Hartley of Bloomington; great grandson, Tanner Lee Hartley; brother, Mike (Nancy) Hartley of New Ross; sister, Phyllis Hutchison of Emsworth, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Ann Hartley of Avon and Judy Hartley of Louisville, Kentucky; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Eric was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Hartley and Larry Hartley.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services are planned for 10:00 a.m., on Friday, September 22, at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.
