Thanks to a $6,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Boone County, the Humane Society for Boone County will be able to help more county residents in need of pet food assistance so they can keep their canine and feline companions in what will hopefully remain their forever homes.

The grant funds will be used to purchase dog food and cat food for HSforBC’s Pet Pantry, which will be distributed free to people struggling to pay bills and buy food for their pets.

“HSforBC’s Pet Pantry supports people and their animals,” executive director Susan Austin said. “We are very grateful to the Community Foundation for this grant.”

Pet owners in need of food for their dogs and cats should call the HSforBC Helpline at 877-473-6722 and listen through the recording to leave a message requesting assistance.
