(Indianapolis, CO) — Feared pass rusher Dwight Freeney is officially hanging up his cleats. Freeney has announced he’ll sign a contract with the Indianapolis Colts and then immediately retire. A news conference is planned for Monday. The Colts drafted him 11th overall in the 2002 NFL Draft, and he racked up a 107-and-a-half sacks over 11 years with the team. Freeney helped them win the franchise’s only Super Bowl and later spent time with the Chargers, Cardinals, Falcons, Lions and Seahawks.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts will open the NFL regular season at home against the Bengals on Sunday, September 9th. The league released the entire schedule last night. Indy is on the road for four of its first six games. The Colts have a bye week in Week Nine.

(South Bend, IN) — The Fighting Irish will host the 89th annual Blue-Gold Game on Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Brian Kelly enters his ninth season as the head coach at Notre Dame. Senior Brandon Wimbush returns as Notre Dame’s starting quarterback, but junior Ian Book and freshman Phil Jurkovec have provided competition.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Indians open a six-game homestand tonight. The Charlotte Knights come to town for a weekend series before the Tribe hosts the Syracuse Chiefs starting Monday. Indy is 5-and-6 on the season. The first pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
