(Indianapolis, IN) — The Indianapolis Colts are establishing a scholarship to honor deceased linebacker Edwin Jackson. Colts owner Jim Irsay has donated 25-thousand dollars to start the Edwin Jackson Memorial Scholarship. He and another man were struck and killed by a vehicle on February 4th. The 26-year-old Jackson was buried in Atlanta on Monday.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The annual NFL Scouting Combine is returning to Indianapolis later this month. The Combine opens on February 27th at Lucas Oil Stadium. Executives from every team in the league will arrive in Indy to scout the top NFL prospects in person. The 2018 NFL Draft starts on April 26th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

(Bradenton, FL) — Spring training is underway in Bradenton, Florida for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Indianapolis Indians have served as Pittsburgh’s Triple-A affiliate since 2005. Pitchers and catchers arrived on Monday, while the rest of the team must report by Sunday. The Pirates open Grapefruit League action next Friday against the Rays.

(South Bend, IN) — The NCAA is denying Notre Dame’s appeal of 21 vacated football victories from the 2012-13 seasons due to academic misconduct. Notre Dame President John Jenkins issued a letter to alumni saying they are disappointed and strongly disagree with the NCAA’s decision. Notre Dame was stripped of 21 wins, fined five-thousand-dollars and placed on probation for one year for academic misconduct by an athletic trainer. The Fighting Irish forfeited 12 wins from 2012, when they lost to Alabama in the BCS title game. Notre Dame also lost its nine victories from 2013.
