29 cars hit the oval on the opening day of practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Tuesday, although the action was quickly halted due to rain. Scott Dixon recorded the fastest lap speed of the abbreviated practice session, as the six-time IndyCar Series Champion and 2008 Indy 500 winner recorded topped out at 229.107 mph. The action resumes at 16th and Georgetown at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, lasting until 6 p.m. The 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 is set for Sunday, May 26.
