The family of James Allen Kersey, aka “The Captain”, would like to share that Jim’s time on earth ended December 24, 2021. Onto the next fishing adventure, go catch the “Big One” with Jesus.
The son of Lester and Virginia Kersey, you started this journey 11-3-1944 and you were raised on the family farm, working it until adulthood. Your multi-talents led you to printing and carpentry. You loved your family, and friends and extended family. Your fishing career began at an early age and continued until the end. You would play or teach pool with anyone that could see over the table and hold a stick. You had an amazing life, touching many along the way. You will be deeply missed.
You are survived by your children, Michelle Lindsay, her son Justin Kersey; daughter Madison Zaichek and her husband Zach; son, Scott and Amye Kersey and their children, Alexis, Rachel, and Collin Kersey; Mike and Crystal Ashman and their children, Stephanie, Taylor, Alex, Nathan. Billy and Brian Goodman John and Martha Swadner and their children, Emma, Marcos, Eli and Delia. JD and late wife, Laure Pope, their children, J, Whitney and Jordan, his best friend Jim Ham and his family and your adopted daughter Christa Childers. You were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
You are preceded in death by your parents Lester and Virginia, Linda Burnett (sister), and Chris Kersey (brother).
Please join us for his celebration of LIFE on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at Freedom Church, 2061 Indianapolis Ave, Lebanon Indiana, 46052. Fellowship with family and friends from 4-6, all are welcome. Celebration of Life will begin at 6 pm. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
