James “Jim” Dewayne Braner, 83, of Lizton, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 18, 1938 in Sullivan, Indiana; a son of the late Otto and Flora (Barnhart) Braner.

He was a 1956 graduate of Hymera High School in Hymera, Indiana.

Jim owned and operated M & R Used Car Sales in Jamestown for forty years. He loved living in a small town, where everyone knew each other and enjoyed drinking coffee with the guys.

Following retirement, Jim would visit his car dealership daily. Jim enjoyed racing and was a loving father and papaw, who absolutely adored his grandkids. He was a loyal, and generous neighbor and friend to many.

Survivors include his sons: Tad (Janis) Braner of Lebanon, Todd (Alesha) Braner of Lizton; daughters, Rita (Chester) Bean of Merom, Indiana, Teresa Braner of Clermont; stepson, Mark Damrell of Lebanon; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Betty Fusco of Sopchoppy, Florida; lifetime partner, Paula Caudill of Lizton; and four-legged buddy, Pooh.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Visitation is planned from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the funeral home in Jamestown. Interment will follow services at K of P Cemetery in Lizton.
