James “Jim” Gillon, 78, of Lebanon, died Monday, Mar. 28, 2022, at IU Health North Hospital in Carmel.

Jim was the son of Henry and Ruth Downs Gillon. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1961. Jim served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. In 1968, he married Linda Merritt in Lizton. Jim retired from Kroger Company after many years. He was a flea marketer since the 80’s and enjoyed selling, and meeting and making many friends over the years. He liked working in the yard, gardening, and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching nature. Jim was a freelance writer and photographer, and many years ago volunteered at the Indianapolis Zoo. He photographed and interviewed several racecar drivers, such as Darrell Waltrip and Mario Andretti. Several of his articles were published regarding the Mail Pouch Barns and the Round Barns in Indiana.

Jim was known in the neighborhood for his walks with his Rottweiler. He loved his family tremendously. In addition to his wife, Linda, survivors include daughter, Dawn; grandchildren, Jenna and Jared; family friend, Kyle Myers; and cousins, Ruthann Chesney and Shawn Chesney.
