Janice Kay Gable, 61, of Lebanon, IN passed on to the arms of Jesus on May 1, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital of a stroke. She was born May 27, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana to her parents Richard William Hawthorne and Nancy Jeanette (Burgett) Hawthorne. Janice spent her early years in Indianapolis with her 2 brothers and sister until 1969 when they moved to Frankfort, IN. She completed her education at Clinton Prairie Jr./Sr. High School in 1979 and married Mark Albert Gable on February 10, 1980.

They lived in Crawfordsville, IN for a year before building their home in Lebanon where they lived until her death. Mark and Janice had 2 children Megan, in 1985 and Jacob, in 1988. Janice worked as an independent Nanny and Housekeeper her entire working career and was trusted to the utmost and loved by all of her clients.

 Mark and Janice were founding members of Lebanon Christian Church in 1983 and she taught Sunday School for the following 38 years! Janice’s life was marked by her joyful and generous spirit. She had an infectious laugh that those who knew her will never forget. She served her Lord Jesus Christ her whole life and loved big! We are also proud to share that she was able to donate her organs as her final selfless gift.

Janice is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Megan (Jeremiah) Noggle and their four children Aurora (8), James (7), LottaBelle (4) and John (2). She is also survived by her son, Jacob Gable; brother, Michael (Glenda) Hawthorne; sister, Barbara (Gregg) Nydegger; brother, William “Bill” Hawthorne and mother, Nancy.

Family and friends will gather Friday, May 5, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W. 250 N., Lebanon, IN 46052. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., in the Church. Janice will be laid to rest at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
