John David “Dave” Klingler, 80, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at his home in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born in Lebanon, on March 25, 1942, as son of the late Charles Oscar and Mary Charline (Hulse) Klingler.
On November 1, 1963, he was married to Dorothy Jean “Jeannie” (Crawford) Klingler at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon. She passed away December 17, 1991. He married Melissa Jane (Boswell) Klingler on July 3, 1996, in Lebanon. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2012.
Dave worked as a plant engineer for Lau Blower for many years. During his retirement, he enjoyed delivering flowers for Mount’s Flowers and Gifts.
He was a member of the Elks Club, Eagles Club, both of Lebanon, Thorntown Lions Club, and the Boone County Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling for the Lebanon Bowling Leagues where he was inducted into the Lebanon Bowlers Hall of Fame and achieved multiple 300 games. In addition, he enjoyed refereeing for middle school basketball as well as umpiring for the Lebanon Little League.
Dave leaves behind children, Dale Klingler of Lebanon, Brenda (Brad) Ahlbrand of Brownstown, and Brett (Becki) Klingler of Lebanon; several grandchildren, step grandchildren, and extended family; a sister, MaryAnn Klingler of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Bonnie Klingler of Zionsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wives, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Klingler.
Funeral Services are planned for 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Boone County Crematory has been entrusted with cremation arrangements following services. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Salem Cemetery in Zionsville.
