John David King, aged 81, passed away on Memorial Day, May 29th, 2023 in Lebanon, IN from an extended illness. John was born in Easton, MD to John A. and Lucille M. (Chilla) King on November 14th, 1941 and raised in Atlanta, GA. He married Rosa McDaniel in October 1990.
Beginning at a young age, John’s lifelong love of film and movie classics developed from his time managing the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA. Later, he experienced extensive travel with his finance career, which took him throughout Georgia, California, Kansas and Indiana. John eventually settled in Lebanon, IN in 1976 where he lived out his life. In addition to an extensive career in finance he served the Boone County community for over 30 years through John D. King Tax Preparation. John was a dedicated Bail Bondsmen serving Boone, Clinton, Hendricks and Hamilton Counties for 16 years. His community service roots began early in life as a Cub Scout and working his way to becoming a Boy Scout Leader and active Lions Club Member. Later in his journey of service he became a Life Member of Lebanon Elks Lodge #635 including holding the Exalted Ruler office and serving as chapter secretary for 12 years. From a young age, John loved many pets in his lifetime, but was especially proud of his cats. His Catholic upbringing, faith and service continued throughout his life from his early years at St. Thomas Moore Catholic School in Atlanta, GA. to his dedicated service to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, IN. John was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13968, Lebanon, IN. John was proud to be a dedicated 12-year volunteer helping those in need at Witham Memorial Hospital, Lebanon, IN.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille King. His sister, Laverne Brobst; and his infant son, Christopher. John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rosa McDaniel-King, his four children Sheri Ann [Atlanta, GA], Vicktoria Anne [Fortville, IN], Shanda Elizabeth [Zionsville, IN], John Phillip [Clarkston, MI], his four grandchildren, Wiley King, Sydney King, Liam McPike, and Isla McPike, his cat Susie, and the mother of his children, Theresa Drummond.
A one-hour visitation will be held on June 10th, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. John will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.
The family requests no flowers, gifts may be made in memory and remembrance of John David King to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Boone County Senior Services, Center Stage Theater, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
