Mr. John Day, 64, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at his home in Lebanon, surrounded by family.
He was born May 26, 1959, in Richmond, a son of the late Jack L. and Patricia (McDole) Day. John married Jeri McCartin on December 6, 1985, and she survives.
John graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1977. He worked at Triangle Asphalt Paving Corporation for many years, his family-owned business. John had a wide circle of close friends and he loved his family, especially his granddaughter Sutton who was born April 12, 2024. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, along with playing craps in Las Vegas, fishing, and gardening. His favorite vacation spot was in Negril, Jamaica at Couples Swept Away! He was involved in many organizations including Boone Lodge #9 F & AM, Boone County and Murat Shrine (serving as President), Lebanon Elks Lodge #635, Gatling Gun Club, and American Legion.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jeri Day of Lebanon; sons, Joshua (Jessica) Day of Indianapolis and Jack (Diondra) Day of Lebanon; granddaughter, Sutton Louise Day; and siblings, Elizabeth (Jim) Lewis of Lebanon and Steven (Taffy) Day of Lebanon.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, May 28, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. in the Mortuary. John will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
