Joyce Gale Whitaker, 89, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Rockville, Indiana, on April 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Josephine (Mankin) McCutchan.
On July 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Paul William Whitaker in Hillsboro, Indiana; he survives.
Gale was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. She worked as the Assessor for Eagle Township for many years. Gale held memberships with Zionsville Christian Church and Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Gale loved her family dearly. She enjoyed traveling to Florida, Europe, Hawaii, and out west.
Survivors include her husband, Paul William Whitaker of Lebanon; daughter, Debra (Michael) Campbell of Lebanon; daughters-in-law, Sheryl Whitaker and Amy Whitaker; grandchildren, Jerico (fiancée, Sara Perry) Whitaker, Josh (Julie) Whitaker, and Kaitlinn (Josh) Pryor; great grandchildren, Jackson Whitaker, Emma Whitaker, and Madison Pryor; and sister, Sharon (Jim) Summers.
In addition to her parents, Gale was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Michael Whitaker and Nicholas Alan Whitaker; and a sister, Glenda Seymour.
Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Zionsville Cemetery.
