Mrs. Karen JoAnn Evans, 76, of Jamestown, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at The Gathering Together in Plainfield, Indiana. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on July 5, 1945, a daughter of the late Kenith and Laura (Graves) Shoaf.
On December 28, 1963, she was married to Marvin Jay Evans, in Advance. He passed away on November 23, 2007.
Karen was a 1963 graduate of Granville Wells High School and had attended Purdue University. She worked for 26 years as a legal secretary for Stephenson Morow & Semler in Indianapolis.
She was a member of the Advance Community Church and the Order of Eastern Star in Jamestown. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed the peacefulness of lake life, fishing, gardening, and traveling. Karen was a creative person who loved to paint and arrange flowers.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey A. (Jessica) Evans of Jamestown and Sean B. (Camille) Evans of Avon; five grandchildren, Justin B. Evans, Dalton C. Evans, Nathan O. Hawks, Crystal L. (Derek) Priestley, Abigail R. (Braxton) Hill; great grandson, Ayden Priestley; sisters, Loraine Ebaugh and Janet Blickenstaff.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Karen was preceded in death by her twin sister, Karol Ann Shoaf, and two brothers-in-law, Les Ebaugh and Fred Blickenstaff.
The family will host A Celebration of Life at Boone County Senior Services on May 22, 2022, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
