Mr. Larry L. Walker, 78, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Larry was born Jun. 10, 1943, in Lebanon, the son of the late Leon and Ruth Anna (Evans) Walker. He married Janice Kay Dean on Sep. 5, 1964. She survives.

Larry was raised in the Terhune/ Sheridan area. He graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1961, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Nike Hercules air missile bases in Painesville, OH and Landau, Germany. Larry worked for Indianapolis Life Insurance for over 30 years, where he retired as computer operations supervisor. Following retirement, he enjoyed working for Thorntown Hardware and his son-in-law’s business, Ford Construction.

Larry enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was with stain glass, helping to build his daughter’s house, laying concrete, or working with wood. He loved sprint car racing. Larry also enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, especially when his grandson was playing. He enjoyed helping coach his grandson’s youth football teams.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Kay Walker of Lebanon; daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Stambaugh of Lebanon and Dana (Aaron) Ford of Lebanon; and grandson, Ryan Poole.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, Dec. 29, for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of military rites at 11 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. The family requests that face coverings be worn. A private graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
