Larry Richard Rader, 85, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019, at Hooverwood Nursing Home in Indianapolis. He was born October 7, 1934, in Boone County, Indiana, a son of the late Roscoe Buren and Opal (Strawmyer) Rader.
On July 3, 1955, he was married to Dolores Jeanne (Warren) Rader. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2015.
Larry was a graduate of Lebanon High School in 1952. During his high school years, he was an avid member of 4-H winning Best Garden in Boone County in 1949, 1950 and 1951. For 32 years, he worked at the A & P Grocery Store as an Auditor, Assistant Manager and Manager. He then went on to work in the Parts Department at R & J Oliver in Lebanon for 10 years; retiring in 1999.
Larry was a faithful member of Mechanicsburg Christian Church since 1947. He served various positions at the church including, deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher for 25 years, and a participant in the church band. Larry also devoted his time to the Indiana National Guard.
A beloved son and brother, a loving husband and father, a devoted grandfather; he will be missed by his family greatly.
Survivors include his son, Duane (Lisa) Rader of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Lindsay Rader of Olympia, WA and Amelia Rader of Indianapolis; and a brother, Stanley (Bev) Rader of Lebanon.
Funeral Services are planned for Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at Mechanicsburg Christian Church in Mechanicsburg, with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
