Mrs. Leah Delores “Susie” Starcher, 80, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at home surrounded by family.
Susie was born October 23, 1940, in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Johnny M. and Betsy Jewell (Jones) Lowe. She married Don Starcher April 5, 1958, in West Virginia. He survives.
Susie graduated from Spencer High School. She enjoyed caring for many children at Precious Heritage Daycare for 10 years. Susie truly enjoyed quilting and studying the Bible and spending time with her family and was an active member of the Dover Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Don of Jamestown; children, Robert D. (Staci) Starcher of McCordsville, Donald D. (Paula) Starcher, Jr. of Crawfordsville, and Diana Mitchell (fiancé, Larry Nash) of Lebanon; sister, Sharon Callow of Parkersburg, WV; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Starcher, Brianna Douglas, Schyler Rizzo, Jade (Robin) Pastore, Jason (Ashley) Pastore, Justin (Jill) Pastore, Zachary (Courtney) Baringer, April (Ke’Air Thomas), Hannah Severe (Sean Larmer), Scott Mitchell, Matthew (Abbie) Mitchell, Amanda Lyles (Greg Maston), Nicole (Robert Lee) Nash, and Ashley (Shaun) Thompson; great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Martina, Darrell, and Nashlyn Starcher, Kallie, Keeli, and Kloee Pastore, Mason and Tucker Pastore, Ethan, Evan, Elijah, and Elliott Pastore, Scarlett Keeton, Cabela, Taylor, and Hazelee Baringer, Grayden and Keilan Mwiinga, Alexis Leo, Kyler Mitchell, Ellie and Mason Mitchell, Tucker and Sawyer Lyles, and Kora Lee Nash.
Susie was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Starcher; and sisters, Carolyn Lape and Janet Carpenter.
Family and friends will gather Friday, August13, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Dover Christian Church, 955 IN-75, Lebanon, IN 46052. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 14 at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour before, in the church. Susie will be laid to rest at IOOF Cemetery in Jamestown. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Dover Christian Church Mission Fund.
