Mr. Lewis J. Elmore, 80, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born March 16th, 1941 in Casey County, Kentucky, a son of the late Chester B. Elmore and Ramona Wesley Hogue.
On August 10, 1963, he was united in marriage to Janice Faye Spears Elmore in Pulaski County, Kentucky, who recently went to be the Lord on November 24, 2021.
Born and raised in Casey County, Lewis displayed the highest work ethic with every job he ever held. He was a capable, hardworking, shift supervisor at the Christmas Tree factory in Lebanon, Indiana, for decades then retired to serve the Lord at several area churches.
Lewis was a faithful steward of God and a devoted member of the Lebanon Rock Church. Having a servant’s heart, he and his late wife fostered two boys and shared the love of Jesus by leading bible studies, prayer groups, and ministering to those in need.
Lewis was very innovative and creative. He loved to tinker on his truck, repair and remodel his Lebanon home, find new or more efficient ways to accomplish tasks, and ride his moped.
Survivors include his two foster children, Anthony and Timothy Straine; daughter, Sherry (Matt) Harvan of Sheffield Village, Ohio; two grandchildren, Megan and David Harvan; sisters-in-law, Fredia (Leroy) Rice, Sharlene Childress, Elizabeth Gaddis, Regina Theilman, Dena (Stuart) Brooks; brothers-in-law, Charles Gaddis, Glen (Suzy) Varney, Phillip (Jacci) Varney; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his two sisters: Thelma and Reeva as well as their children, other family unknown.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, at Myers Mortuary. Interment will follow services at Dover Cemetery in Dover, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed in Lewis’s memory to the Lebanon Rock Church.
