Mrs. Margie George, 80, of Lebanon, died Thursday, May 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Margie was born February 2, 1943, in Sheridan, a daughter of the late William Edward and Mabel Katherine (Harris) Samuels. Margie married David George on June 9, 1961; he survives.

Margie graduated from Clinton Central High School and had worked for the teacher’s association, along with Veihe Insurance. She loved flowers, and especially her children and grandchildren. Margie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, David George of Lebanon; sons, Tony (Bethellen) George, Gary (Helen) George, and Timothy Ray (Brenda Barrett) George, all of Lebanon; brothers, Edward (Sue) Samuels of Martinsville and Larry Samuels of New Mexico; sisters, Susan (Ron) Lee of Frankfort and Gloria Hall of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Marilyn Samuels; grandchildren, Emily (Alex) Beattie, Scott (Lindsey) George, Amy (Jacob) Wright, Katherine (Chris) Salaba, David (Morgan) George, Gary (fiancé, Emily) George, Jr., Lindsey (William) Shank, Lena Merritt, Christina George, Olivia George, William George, and Rebecca (Daniel) Shank; and great grandchildren, Evelyn, Elora, Ava, Eden, Madelyn, Aubrey, and two great grandchildren on the way.

Margie was preceded in death by her son, William Bradford George and brother, Jack Samuels.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, May 31, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the mortuary. Margie will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin.
