Mrs. Marilyn Glee Grizzle, 78, passed away at home in Thorntown with family by her side on Thursday, July 22, 2021. She was born in New Albany, Indiana on December 23, 1942, an only child of the late Marion Arthur and Opal Angeline (Nale) Baker.
She was a graduate of Morgan Township High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lipscomb University and her master’s degree in education from Indiana University.
Marilyn was married to Ronald Norman Grizzle on June 19, 1971 at Lebanon Church of Christ; he preceded her in death on July 27, 1995.
She was an elementary school teacher for 37 years, where she taught at Franklin Public Schools for 2 years and 35 years with Lebanon Community Schools. Marilyn was a member of the Boone County Retired Teachers Association, where she was president in 2015. She also was active in “Smile-A-While” Home Economics Club, Boone County Tourist Club and University Women’s Club. She also took great pride in taking care of her family and home.
Marilyn leaves behind one daughter, Sara Lynne Moore and husband, Steve of Thorntown.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge her in-home caregivers, Sherri Edens and Madison Washam. They would also like to give special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Hospice, her nurses, Ryan and Bregitta, music therapist, Merie.
Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 with Steve Jaggers officiating at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon.
