Martha Hiland passed away the morning of February 7, 2024 at Methodist Hospital

Martha was born on October 7, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Floyd and Edna Crouch.

Martha attended private all-girls school until moving to Indiana.  Martha graduated from Pinnell High School in 1959.  While attending Pinnell, Martha was voted Mrs. Betty Crocker as she was known for her cooking.

Martha married Ronald Hiland on November 21, 1959, a loving union that lasted 63 years. Together, Martha and Ronnie had two sons, Ronnie and Danny Hiland.

Martha had many fond memories and enjoyed working with the residents at Hoosier Village Retirement Center.  Martha had a crazy sense of humor and she loved her family dearly and was very thankful for what she had.

Martha loved watching the grandchildren’s faces on Christmas morning while unwrapping gifts. Martha enjoyed making wedding cakes, planting flowers. Decorating and antiques.

Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald Hiland of Lebanon; sons, Ronnie Ivan (Susan) Hiland of Jamestown and Danny (Christina) Hiland of Lebanon; grandchildren, Andy (Hillary) Hiland of Thorntown, Aaron (Chelsea) Hiland of Lebanon and Brandon (Jessica) Hiland of Lizton; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Granger, Brody, Hadley, Jade and Bryer Hiland; sisters in law, Kim Crouch (Mark) Duff of Lebanon and Christine Vaught of Danville, Indiana as well as her dear friend, Sharon Kizer; nieces and nephews, Nancy (Jeff) Kleinman, Linda Heath, Joyce (Bill) Buchanan, Sharon Baker, Randy Hartley, Steve (Susan) Hartley and Julie (Bob) Purple. She also leaves behind her beloved dog and companion Babe “Buddy”.

She was preceded in death by twin brother, Butch Crouch, brother in law, Bill Vaught, Julia & Joe Hartley, Annetta Dale, and grandson, Brayton Hiland.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, February 9 at 2:oo p.m. for a graveside service at the Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be  made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
