Mrs. Martha Louise Westfall, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born September 11, 1931, at the family farm in Gosport, IN. She was a daughter of the late Acord and Leslie (Smith) Cantwell. She married George F. Westfall on May 23, 1954, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2012.
She was a member Psi Iota Xi, Omega Chapter, Zonta Club, the Boone County retired teacher’s association, National Education Association and was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Martha received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was a dedicated educator and librarian with the Lebanon Community School Corporation, retiring in 1990. Being a librarian, she was passionate about reading, and you could usually find her immersed in a thrilling novel. She also loved vacationing at the family cottage at Dogtooth Lake, Kenora, Ontario.
Survivors include her children, William (Kimberly) Westfall of Lebanon, Priscilla (Gregg) Hart of Tallahassee, FL, Jay (Sandy) Westfall of Katy, TX, and Joseph Westfall and beloved son in law, Josue Reyes of New York, NY; grandchildren, Alycia Raison of Indianapolis, IN and Amanda (Will) Fiorito of Tallahassee, FL, Joshua (Allison) and Kara Westfall (Joseph Evenson, fiancé), Brendan Duff and Kyndal Wetzel (Jake), of Lebanon, IN and Jacob Westfall of Katy, TX; great grandchildren, Oliver Raison, Isabel Louise Fiorito, Everett James Fiorito, Madalyn and Aspen Westfall, Rose and Marshall Wetzel; and siblings, John (Pennie) Cantwell of Gosport, IN, Kay (Bob) Brown of Vineburg, CA, and Christopher (Carla) Cantwell of Ione, CA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Donald B. Cantwell, and Sandy Westfall, wife of Jay Westfall.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 8, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
