Mary Kay Dunwoody, 82, formerly of Peru, Indiana, passed away July 12, 2022 at Independence Village of Zionsville.

Mary Kay was born January 20, 1940, in Kansas, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Manrose. She married Thomas Jefferson Dunwoody on June 8, 1963. He preceded her in death, December 9, 2014.

Mary Kay was well-known for cooking your favorite dish before you visited. She shared her husband’s passion for the circus and was a member of the International Circus Hall of Fame and Museum in Peru, Indiana. She loved adventure and travel. She was a generous soul, whose door was always open. She believed that if you were having a bad day, you could overcome it by doing something nice for someone else. “Happy, happy, joy, joy” was one of her favorite sayings.

Survivors include sons, Tim (Lorri) Dunwoody of Indianapolis and Charles (Kara) Dunwoody of Caledonia, Michigan; daughter, Joslyn Kuykendall (Mike) of Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, J.T., Jenna, Denise, Thomas, Stacie, Brandy, Reuben, Aaron, Nathan, Jacob, and Kaylee; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Kay was preceded in death by her son, Jefferson (Jana) Dunwoody and sister, Marilyn Clarkson.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, July 16 for a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN.
