Our dear mother, Mary Sheaffer Ilgenfritz passed away on May 24, 2023. She was 92 years old, just short of her 93rd birthday. Mary was born at her family farm in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on May 28, 1930 to Harvey and Tressie Sheaffer. She was number 11 of 12 children, all who preceded her in death.
In 1969, Mary moved to Valparaiso, Indiana with her family. She enjoyed being an active part of the Valpo community. She was a part of Valparaiso Community School Corporation as a food service worker at Valparaiso High School and then a food service manager at Cooks Corners Elementary, where she lovingly made sure the students and staff were never hungry. Mary also worked for the VHS Athletic Department in the concession stand during athletic events. She worked for the Valparaiso Parks Department running the concession service at various parks. She also enjoyed working at Casa Del Roma for catered events where she met so many special people. Sewing, gardening and cooking amazing meals for her family were important to her. Mary called Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso her church home. She was a dedicated member for over fifty years. There she made many friends who became her church family sharing her love for Christ.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Debi Prather (Richard deceased), Dawn Ilgenfritz and Jody Williams (Mike). Mary adored her grandchildren and was always a special part of their lives. Abby Prather Mullis (Anthony), Andrew Prather (Jamie), Josh Ilgenfritz, Noah Williams and Molly Williams. She was also blessed to be a great grandmother to Hadlee and Brooklyn. Mary touched many lives during her life, calling many close friends. Family and friends will miss her kindness, generosity and love.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valparaiso, Indiana, on June 15, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory in Lebanon have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
