Michael David Valley 50, passed away at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, IN on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born on December 8, 1970 in California. The oldest son of Michael David Valley, I and Linda (Dugan) Valley Bechtold and his Dad, Rick Bechtold.
He was a 1989 graduate of Western Boone High School and received his Bachelors Degree from Millikin University.
Mike Valley dedicated many years of his life to protecting us so we could enjoy the freedoms our forefathers guaranteed us in the US Constitution. Those who knew him know how selfless he always was… mission success was always first. Mike proudly served his country for 16 years in the United States Navy reaching the rank of FC1. Before being honorably discharged he lastly served on the John Paul Jones. Until Valhalla…Mike.
Formerly married to Tina Patton of Michigan and Amanda Tomasini of Wisconsin.
He was presently working for SMC Corporation of America in Noblesville.
Mike met Kala Werner on line last November. They texted and talked everyday until they had their first date on December 11th. When their eyes met – they both knew. He treated her like a precious jewel and made every day brighter for his being in it. They became engaged this October 2nd. The love of each others lives, they were to be married this October 28th.
A mesmerizing storyteller with all the nuance, skill and second nature that requires – he brought his stories to life. Though Mike also loved camping, traveling, target shooting and taking pictures, his passion was his family. He was a loving fiancé and father, and a wonderful provider. He was a brave, honorable man and an amazing friend who dreamed constantly and never lost his Peter Pan attitude.
He is survived by his loving fiancée, Kala Werner of Lebanon; children: Jacob (Krystal) Valley of Colorado, Caylin Valley of Illinois, Thomas Valley of Thorntown, Maya Valley of Wisconsin, Kekoa (Haley) Strickland of Colorado, Kyle Strickland of Colorado; granddaughter, Kora Strickland of Colorado; Father, Dad and “Ma”: Michael David Valley, I of Michigan; Rick and Denise (Houk) Bechtold of Thorntown; brothers, Shane (Elaine) Valley of Oklahoma, Mark L. Bowman (Kathy Lyman) of Indiana, Shon Bechtold of Zionsville; sisters, Erika Bechtold (Dontrell) Land of Michigan, Melody Bechtold of Georgia, Ashley Buckiewicz of Thorntown and Anita (Robert) Valley-Gomez; “Grandma” and “Pop-Pop”, Kae Campbell of Thorntown and Bob Houk of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Mae (Dugan) Valley Bechtold and sister, Trisha Bechtold.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon Thursday, October 28, 2021, until time of the Celebration. A Celebration of Life with Military Rites will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Pastor Jim Kyle will be officiating. Dress attire is: “Mike Country”! (Jeans and Boots)
Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation arrangements. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.
