Michael L. “Mike” Thayer, originally of Hope, IN, passed into Heaven into the open arms of Jesus on January 10, 2021 in Keepsake Village in Columbus, IN. He was a graduate of North Central High School (1967) and Marian University, both in Indianapolis. Mike was a loving dad and grandpa, as well as a caring accountant who enjoyed the opportunity to serve his loyal clients for many decades. He loved re-watching favorite movies, was an avid reader, and enjoyed riding motorcycles when he was able.

Mike is survived by his mother, Betty Thayer; son, Dean (Kate) Thayer; daughter, Natalie (Scott) Kruger; grandchildren Rebekah, Luke, Norah, and Josh Thayer, and Brandon, Adam, and Sydney Kruger; sister, Sharon (Ron) Curtis; sister-in-law, Tonya Thayer; nieces, Melissa Stambaugh and Heather (Brian) Montgomery; nephew, Andrew (Heidi) Thayer; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Thayer, and his brother, Sam Thayer.
Private family services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021, with family visitation at 10 a.m., at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Those attending are asked to please follow the CDC guidelines of wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.

For friends, and family unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Myers Mortuary Facebook page at 11a.m. on January 18th.Burial of Mike’s ashes will take place at a later date in the Hope Moravian Cemetery in Hope, IN.

In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations may be made to Wheeler Mission Ministries, an organization that Mike supported regularly, at 205 E. New York St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory of Lebanon are handling his arrangements for cremation.
