The space we fill on earth the day we are born is ours. It follows us until the day we abandon it at death. Then, even though we cannot be seen in that space, the space remains. Mike Miller has abandoned his space.

Mike was born on January 31, 1948, in Troy, Ohio to Richard and Betty Miller. The family moved to Indianapolis where Mike attended public schools and graduated from Shortridge High School.

After spending one year at Purdue University, Mike married Trina Green in 1966. Mike and Trina have 3 children, Jimmy, Jeff, and Katy. They moved to California and later divorced.

After returning to Indiana, Mike joined the Army as part of the Pershing Missile Unit in Germany. When he was discharged from the Army he went back to Indiana where he began his 34-year career working for Cummins Mid States Power. He started there as a diesel mechanic and retired as an engine salesman.

One evening while sitting on a barstool at the Friendly Tavern in Zionsville, Indiana, Mike would meet Jennifer Andrews who he married on September 23, 1978. They have been married for 45 years and have enjoyed many travels, much love, and joyful laughter.

In 1980 Mike and Jennifer bought a farmhouse from Aunt Edith near Thorntown, Indiana. Mike enjoyed gardening and woodworking. As for his woodworking, Jennifer claims he had a condition called “fear of completion”. Lots of projects were started with great promise, but never quite finished. Mike and Jennifer have shared love with several dogs, cats, and horses over the years. He will certainly be missed by Sheila and the cats. One thing Mike most enjoyed was spending his time at the family cottage on Pickeral Lake, in Michigan. His Favorite activity at the lake was taking a sunset cruise with a nice cold Miller Genuine Draft.

He is survived by his wife, of Newaygo, Jennifer (Andrews) Miller, children, Jim Miller of Escondido, CA, Jeff Miller of Westfield, IN, Katy Miller of Jacksonville, FL, brothers, Stewart Miller of Chicago, IL, Steven Miller of Indianapolis, IN, in-laws, Marcia Adams, Tom Stergar, and Todd Andrews, and he has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, starting at 2:00PM at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary in Lebanon, IN (2400 N Lebanon St, Lebanon, IN 46052).

Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a Memorial Donation in Mike’s honor to the Newaygo County Compassion Home, 20 S. Stewart Ave, Fremont MI 49412.
