Michael Osterfeld, 41, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He was born October 29, 1981, in Indianapolis, a son of Emma Josephine (Smith) Osterfeld and the late David Edward Osterfeld.

Michael graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 2000. He worked as the Deputy Directory of Therapeutics at State of Maryland Department of Health, coordinating executive level operations, market, pharmaceutical programs, and COVID-19 response. Michael loved cooking, especially grilling.  He loved spending time with friends and family and volunteering to assist the less fortunate. Some of his hobbies included playing the piano and percussion instruments.  Michael was very passionate about helping others and he found that outlet through his work doing pandemic and natural disaster responses.

Survivors include his mother, Emma Osterfeld of Lebanon; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Osterfeld of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Sarah (Matt) Farrell of Indianapolis; niece, Madelyn Farrell; several cousins and aunts and uncles’.

In addition to his father, David Edward Osterfeld, Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Mary Smith and his paternal grandfather, William ‘Bill’ Osterfeld. His aunt and uncle, Maryanne and Bill Dunst, aunt Sally ‘Sarah’ Smith, and aunt Betty ‘Elizabeth’ Milota.

Final care of Michael has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
