(New Orleans, LA) — Alvin Gentry will be returning as head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans next season. ESPN reports the team has informed Gentry it is picking up the 2018-19 option on his contract. According to the report, GM Dell Demps told Gentry of the move before the Pelicans’ first-round playoff sweep of the Trail Blazers.

(Undated) — Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski’s namesake won’t be running in the Kentucky Derby after all. The Phoenix Thoroughbred ownership group says “Gronk” was recently treated for a fever and will not travel to Churchill Downs for the first leg of the Triple Crown on May 5th. Gronkowski recently bought a minority stake in the colt.

(Renton, WA) — Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says they haven’t closed the door on possibly signing quarterback Colin Kaepernick [[ CAP-er-nick ]].
