Irving said he’s going to pass on a contract extension with Boston this summer and will wait until 2019 when he can become an unrestricted free agent. It makes financial sense for Irving, who can get significantly more money from the Celts next summer. He played in only 60 games this year and missed the entire playoffs.

(Toronto, Ontario) — The Raptors are staying within the organization to replace Dwane Casey. According to ESPN, Toronto will promote assistant Nick Nurse to be its next head coach. Casey was fired after a 59-win season that saw Toronto swept by the Cavaliers in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Nurse is 50 years old and was a head coach in the G-League for six seasons.

(Oakland, CA) — The Warriors celebrated their third championship in four years in the streets of Oakland yesterday. Golden State held a victory parade after sweeping the LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Draymond Green trolled James with an “Arthur” fish t-shirt that LeBron used in a meme during the regular season.

(Washington, DC) — Tens of thousands of Capitals fans lined up along Constitution Avenue to catch a glimpse of their home team and the Stanley Cup. A massive championship parade kicked off yesterday morning and the celebration continued with a rally at the National Mall. The 2018 Stanley Cup championship is DC’s first major sports title of any kind since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 1992.

(Detroit, MI) — The season is over for Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera. He will have surgery after rupturing a tendon in his left biceps. Cabrera left last night’s game against the Twins in Detroit while batting in the third inning. The two-time AL MVP swung at a 1-1 pitch and immediately dropped the bat and clutched his upper left arm. “Miggy” hit .301 with three home runs and 22 RBI this season.
