Billy G. Hopper, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Saturday, May 4, 2019. He was born July 7, 1936, in Marion County, Indiana, to the late Charles Esmar Hopper, Sr. and Viola Marie (Scott) Hopper.
He attended Union School in Boone County. He then served his country honorably for 18 years in the United States Army, the Army Reserves, and the Indiana National Guard.
Billy worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Boone County Highway Department for 25 years and also farmed row crop and livestock for many years.
He attended Hope Community Church in Lebanon and enjoyed playing the guitar for the Fishermen Quartet for nearly 20 years.
He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Hopper of Remington and Jason (LeAnn) Hopper of Avon; a son-in-law, Mark Darrough of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Miranda Baker, Jessica Hopper, Joshua Hopper, Julia Hopper, Jenna Hopper, and Jalissa Hopper; two great grandsons, Alex Hopper and Jake Darrough; and brothers, Bob (Shirley) Hopper of Elwood and Charles (Paula) Hopper, Jr. of Zionsville.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Darrough; and sisters, Sandra (Don) Lahrman and Ruth (Lee) Morgan.
Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon.
Interment with military rites will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
