Chiquita Mae Hamstra, 86, of Lebanon and formerly of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday morning, March 6, 2019, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born August 8, 1932, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Perry and Dorcas Mae (Heady) Padgett.

A longtime resident of Boone County, Chiquita was a graduate of Sheridan High School.

Chiquita was the first woman bus driver for the Western Boone School Corporation, and drove for 36 years. She also worked for the Dairy Pharm of Jamestown. After retirement, she was employed by Walmart in Lebanon. Chiquita was a member of the Advance Community Christian Church and Jamestown United Methodist Church where she played piano. She was an active pianist in both churches.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, Chiquita was preceded in death by a son, Gregory L. Hamstra.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Old Union Cemetery, rural Jamestown.
