On Monday, April 8, 2019, Faye Ilene Lanpher, 95, was called to go home with our Lord Jesus. She was born in Putnam County on March 12, 1924, a daughter of Ernest and Nora (Oliver) Michaels. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Michaels, Wayne Michaels, and Francis Michaels; and three sisters, Golda Randel, Marjorie Lee and Lavon “Vonnie” Whitaker.
In 1926, Ilene moved to Boone County following her mother’s death to live with her sister, Golda (Frank) Randel. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1942, where she was a cheerleader and in the band. She then attended Central Business College where she attained a degree in stenography.
Married to Virgil Lewis Lanpher on October 21, 1945 at the Thorntown Christian Church. They had spent nearly 70 wonderful years together before he passed away on April 13, 2015. Their three children are: Linda Cooney, Gary (Jackie) Lanpher, and Trudy (Jim) Wright; six grandchildren: Carol (Rob) Hawkins, Brad Lanpher; Dr. Beth (Mike) Morgan ; Brett (Julie) Lanpher; Joe (Sarah) Wright,; Jenna (Jeremy) Snow; ten great grandchildren, Haley and Blake Hawkins; Lucy, Olivia Faye and Alaina Morgan; Andrew, Lillian and Scarlett Wright; Tyler and Kevin Snow; great-great grandson, Mason Stiverson.
Ilene was a devoted homemaker and worked many years for Dr. Honan. She was a lifelong member of the Thorntown Christian Church, where she was a Deacon. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, fishing and playing cards.
Ilene and Virgil spent many enjoyable “Snow bird winters” in Florida, vacationing with friends and family
She was a member of the Home Ec. Club, Library Book Club, Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Ilene was happy at Homewood Healthcare enjoying all the fun activities, especially the Wednesday night Bible studies
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Thorntown Christian Church, 125 West Main Street, Thorntown, Indiana.
Funeral Services are planned for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Thorntown Christian Church with Rev. Glen Jewell, officiating. Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to Thorntown Christian Church or the Thorntown Public Library.
