Mr. John R. Bennington, 80, of Whitestown, passed away May 8, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital.
John was born Mar. 30, 1939, in Jamestown, a son of the late Alvin “Dutch” and Edna (Roe) Bennington. He was married to Jo Ann (Scott) Bennington. She survives.
John was a 1958 graduate of Granville Wells. He served in the U.S. Army. John worked at Rock Island as a pipe fitter and electrician for 28 years and retired from Rolls Royce 20 years ago. In his spare time he loved farming, gardening and golfing. John was a kind and caring man, always willing to help others.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann and sons: Jay (Marnie) Bennington of Noblesville and Jeff (Cherish) Bennington of Whitestown, grandsons: Sam and Noah Bennington and a brother, Ben Bennington of Jamestown.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, May 15, 2019, for visitation from 4-8 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. John will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
