Russell Lowell Essex, Jr., 80, of Lebanon, passed away at home with family by his side on Monday, July 08, 2019. He was born August 30, 1938, in Elizaville, Indiana, a son of the late Russell Lowell Essex, Sr. and Martha Belle (Wakefield) Essex.

Russell attended Lebanon High School. He later moved to California where he graduated from San Dieguito High School. Following school he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. Russell attended Ball State and Purdue University and received a master’s degree in education.

Russell was a business and computer science teacher at Warren Central High School for almost twenty years.

On June 8, 2002, he was married to Darene (Schultz) Essex in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; she survives.

He attended Gadsden Church of Christ. Russell enjoyed his kids and grandkids. His hobbies included motorcycles, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

Kelly Essex-Crabtree of Brownsburg

Nine Great Grandchildren

Brother: Max R. (Joyce) Essex of Byrdstown, Tennessee

Several Nieces and Nephews

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by sister, Lucretia Parker

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is planned from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home, in Lebanon.

Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
