Patricia “Pat” Joan Burns, 89, passed away on May 27, 2020 at Brownsburg Meadows. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 15, 1931 to Leighton Burns and Opal (Downin) Prinz.
Patricia lived most of her adult life in Cumberland, Indiana before moving to Lebanon to be closer to her nieces and nephews. While in Cumberland she attended the Cumberland Christian Church, where she served as the Church Treasurer, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was devoted to her church.
Pat was very proud of the fact that she worked for the Federal Government for over 50 years, retiring in 2009 from the Army Finance Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. She loved her home state of Indiana and commonly referred to herself as the “Hoosierest Hoosier.” Pat was kindhearted and adored all her nieces and nephews, where she held a special place in her heart for each one of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, William L. Burns and his wife, Jane Reid Burns of Lebanon. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews: Joe (Steve) Rose, Mary Jane (Art) Paul, Bill (Cindy) Burns, John (Beverly) Burns, Ken (Tina) Burns, Theresa (Craig) Boyer, Kathy (Mark) Williams, Susie (Scott) Lollar, and Jim Burns, all of Lebanon and Tom (Blythe) Burns of Thorntown. She also leaves behind many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Private Family Graveside Services are planned for Saturday, May 30, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. No Visitation is planned.
