Patti Cory, 86, of Sheridan, died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Sheridan.
Patti was born June 6, 1936, in Clinton County, Indiana a daughter of the late Frank Jacob and Myrtle Marie (Carter) Harshman. She was married to Billy Joe Cory for 63 years. He preceded her in death April 22, 2017.
Patti was employed at J&L Steel and at Walmart in Frankfort, as a spokesperson; she was also a licensed auctioneer. Patti was known for her sense of humor, especially her dirty jokes that were always told at the perfect time.
Patti was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #534 as a top chair and worthy matron; she was also a member of the Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority in Boone County and the Boone County Women’s Shrine Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise (Kyle) Kercheval of Sheridan; grandchildren, Dustin Layton, Cory Copenhaver, and Brandi Marsh; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three brothers; and five sisters. In addition to her parents and husband, Patti was preceded in death by her great grandson, Johnnie Layton.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, July 19 for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Patti will be laid to rest at Scotland cemetery in Kirklin, Indiana.
