On Sunday, October 2 at approximately 9:27 PM, the Boone County Communications Center received a call that there was a male subject walking eastbound in the 9200 block E State Road 47, Sheridan, IN. A welfare check was requested, and law enforcement was dispatched. Shortly after the initial call, a second call came in advising that the pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle.
Upon Law Enforcements’ arrival at the scene, it was found that the pedestrian, identified as Mr. Roger Wisehart Jr, (42 years old) of Russiaville, IN, was deceased as a result of the collision. Preliminary investigation has found that Mr. Wisehart had run out of fuel and had begun walking eastbound towards the Sheridan, IN area.
The BCSO FACT Team was called to the scene to investigate the incident. The driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Wisehart was taken to a nearby medical facility, willingly, to be tested for substances that cause impairment.
