Mrs. Phyllis Mae Spaulding, 88, passed away peacefully at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana, on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She was born on October 16, 1933, in Boone County, Indiana; a daughter of the late Jesse Lawrence Martin and Zella Mae (Schimmel) Martin Pettit.

Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School. She then attended night classes at Indiana Baptist College.

On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Rev. Lowell Edward Spaulding at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Lebanon. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2017. They had celebrated 62 loving years together.

Phyllis truly enjoyed cooking and serving high school students their lunches where she worked in the cafeteria at Lebanon, Frankfort, and Tri-West High schools for many years. She also was a faithful supporter of her late husband’s ministerial career in Frankfort and then at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Lebanon.

She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Survivors: two daughters, Connie K. (Kirt) Barker of Loveland, Colorado, Theresa L. (Del Ray) Isenhower of Elizaville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jason (Tracy) Spaulding, Melissa Spaulding, Simon Spaulding, Tucker (Trudy) Miller, Johnathan (Alyssa) Isenhower, Nathan (Brittany) Isenhower, Kylie Barker, Kassidy Hickert; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Kyra Kay (Marion “Tug”) McCoy of Lebanon; Barbara (Dick) Houck of California; brother, Larry (Joyce) Pettit of Crawfordsville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Randle E. Spaulding and Dyanne Spaulding; sister, Charlotte Williams; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Carol Pettit.

Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Walnut Street Baptist Church, 225 East Walnut Street, in Lebanon
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at the church in Lebanon.

Interment will follow services at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort, Indiana. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana has been entrusted with her arrangements.
