On April 23, 2024, members of the Frankfort Police Department Special Operations Division and Patrol Division were observing a known drug house in the 450 Block W Ohio St. A patrol unit observed a vehicle leave that residence and commit a traffic infraction. A traffic stop was initiated in the area of Jefferson and John. The driver fled to Kyger Street and then turned westbound. A short time later, at Rossville and Kyger, the suspect vehicle attempted to go the wrong way on a one-way street but struck a southbound vehicle at the curve. The crash resulted in both drivers being transported to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. The driver involved in the pursuit was 33-year-old Jonathan Worth of Frankfort. He struck a vehicle driven by 57-year-old J Michael Sparks of Zionsville. Worth’s injuries prevented him from being jailed at this time. Due to the serious bodily injury caused by the crash, toxicology is pending on Worth. Both drivers are being treated for their injuries.
Units returned to the 450 Block of W Ohio St where a wanted female was seen going into the house. A search warrant was requested. While it was processing, a bomb threat was called into the Frankfort Walmart. Once the search warrant was granted, 28-year-old Breanna Wessell of Frankfort was arrested on three warrants (two out of Clinton County for Failure to Appear and one Boone County Warrant).
The bomb threat resulted in the closure of the Frankfort Walmart located in the 2400 Block of E Wabash Street for approximately two hours. Bomb sniffing K9s were requested from the Tippecanoe County Explosive Ordnance Disposal. No evidence of a bomb was located. Detectives and officers began reviewing the evidence from this case. We believe the bomb threat was called into Clinton County Central Dispatch in an attempt to get officers to leave the residence on West Ohio St. That did not happen. Multiple FPD officers came in off-duty to work both scenes and cover calls in the city.
“Today’s events were caused by two individuals who have a lengthy criminal history,” stated Chief Scott Shoemaker. “Our detectives will relentlessly investigate the bomb threat evidence to present a case to the Clinton County Prosecutor for charges. Our thoughts are with the uninvolved driver who was struck by Mr. Worth.”
