The Whitestown man rescued from a fire Wednesday night suffered second degree-burns over 30 percent of his body, family said. Richard DeLashmit, 79, was alone in his two-story home on County Road 500 East when the fire broke out, granddaughter Stephanie Kixmiller said Friday. DeLashmit is being treated at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Indianapolis. Doctors told the family Friday his lungs contained soot but were not damaged by heat, she said, adding that he is expected to recover. More details found in The Lebanon Reporter.
