Richard G. Hitch, 73, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on January 17, 1947 in Lebanon, a son of the late Hiram G. and Mary Louise (Groover) Hitch.

Richard was a 1965 graduate of Granville Wells High School. Following high school, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam era.

On February 7, 1969 he was married to Lee Ann (Glendenning) Hitch in Lebanon, Indiana; she survives.

Following the service, Richard worked for Commercial Filters of Lebanon. He then served on the City of Lebanon Police Department for 21 years, retiring as a captain in 1997.

His membership included the Fraternal Order of Police and the Model Car Clubs of Lafayette, Indiana. He had a passion searching for and building model cars along with the great outdoors.

In 1999, Richard had the experience of a lifetime when he flew to California to be Sherry’s date for the Emmy’s. Although, she didn’t win, the two enjoyed a memorable evening together; complete with a limousine ride to the ceremony and seeing many celebrities. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting them often when they lived in Illinois and Kentucky. He was blessed to spend more time with them when they moved back to Indiana. In addition to his family, he adored his Boston Terrier, Beau.

Surviving is his wife, Lee Ann Hitch of Lebanon

Daughters: Sherry Lynn Hitch and wife, Maria Saenz of San Rafael, California
Amy Dohm and husband, Stephen of Zionsville, Indiana

Grandchildren: Nathaniel Stephen Dohm of Zionsville
Madelyn Rose Dohm of Zionsville

Funeral Services are planned for Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Lebanon. e
