Lifelong Boone County farmer, Richard L. Witt, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was born at his parent’s home in Boone County on February 20, 1934.

On October 19, 1958, he was married to Sandra Lou (Griggs) Witt; she survives.

Richard was a graduate of Pinnell High School. Following school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army while stationed in Germany. He was a volunteer fireman for several years, serving with the Perry Township Fire Department. He served on the Board of Directors with the Boone County REMC. In addition, Richard was a member of the New Brunswick Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and Elder. Most recently, he attended Lebanon Church of Christ. Richard enjoyed working with wood and making furniture with his friend, Sam Herr.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, along with three children, Steven (Penny) Witt of Madison, Florida, Susan (Kerry) Evoy of Sheridan, and Scott (Lynn) Witt of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Melissa Witt, Rebecca (Jesse) Rowe, Amanda (the late Josh) Knock, Kirk Evoy, Kylie (Joey) Carr, Kelsie (Timmy) Lyles, Sidney (Emilson) Witt Diaz, and L. James (Sarah) Witt; and eleven great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Sue Mitchell and brother-in-law, Howard Bowman.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Athel and Florence E. (Lane) Witt; sisters, Margaret Bowman and Thelma Jean Perry; brothers-in-law, Charles Perry and Loren Mitchell; and a nephew, David Bowman.

Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
