Rickney Van Turley (Rick), 74, of Whitestown, passed away Sunday, Sep. 4, 2022.
Rick was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Lebanon, a son of the late Meredith and Cora (Templin) Turley.
Rick graduated from Zionsville High School with the class of 1966, and went on to Indiana University, graduating in 1970 with a degree in business. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
He married Karen Jean Hendrix on Oct. 16, 1976, and they lived their entire married life in Whitestown.
Early in his career, Rick sold furniture and lived a few years in North Carolina and Nebraska, before coming back to Indiana. He then got into the landscaping business. He started his own company, A Growing Group, Inc. in 1990 and retired in 2015.
Rick was in the Army National Guard. He was also a member of the New Hope Christian Church. Rick loved his family and they always had a raucously good time together.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Karen Turley of Whitestown; son, Matthew Turley (Jennifer Wilson) of Lebanon; daughter, Lori Turley of Zionsville; Jennifer’s children, Calista Cole, Seth Wilson, and Rosemary Wilson; brother, Rod (Maranda) Turley of Prescott Valley, AZ; sisters, Tam Turley and Kim (John) Minnich, both of Zionsville; brother-in-law, Gary (Karen) Hendrix of Jamestown; nephews, Cooper Minnich, Joe Hendrix, and Tom Hendrix; and niece, Margo Minnich.
Family and friends will gather Friday, Sep. 9, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the New Hope Christian Church, 5780 S. Main Street, Whitestown, IN 46075. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sep. 10, at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor David Bourne officiating. Rick will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery in Zionsville.

Final care of Rick has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
