Mr. Samuel L. Shelley, age 86, of Colfax, Indiana passed away Friday night, October 7, 2022, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born December 13, 1935, in Kirklin, Indiana, a son of the late Frank and Sarah (Clark) Shelley.

In October 1961, he was married to Shirley M. (Logston) Shelley in Delphi, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2014.

In 1948, he and his family moved to Colfax where he attended Colfax High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion in Colfax. Sam worked at Commercial Filters as a metal fabricator for over 32 years.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly.

Survivors include four children, Timothy Shelley of Kentucky, Kimberly (Everett) Clark of Colfax, John (Anita) Shelley of Colfax, and Scott (Sherry) Shelley of Veedersburg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Sam was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Shelley; four brothers, Jim Shelley, Russell Shelley, Elmer Shelley, and Phill Shelley; and a sister, Mary Davis.

Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
Interment will follow at the Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
