Shirley Hunt, 87, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born Jul. 31, 1936, in Piqua, OH, a daughter of the late Ora and Hazel (Linscott) Miller. Shirley married Charles Hunt in May 1955, and he preceded her in death in Feb. 1999. She was then married to Ed Garrett in June 2004, and he preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2023.

Shirley attended Thorntown High School. Alongside her late husband, Charles, she owned C & D Lawnmower. She enjoyed working flea markets and auctions, as well as crocheting. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her children, Brenda (Mike) Westerfield, Karen (Dave) Conarroe, Chuck (Stephanie) Hunt, Tom Hunt, Cheryl (Bruce) Williams, and Peggy Garrett; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Akers and Lyn Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Frances Reese, Jane Berry, and Bill Miller.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Intrepid Hospice nurses, Maureen Brown and Carolyn Earls, for their care.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, Nov. 4, for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Donald Blanton officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Shirley will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Jack’s House for Alzheimer’s.
